What Does WPM Mean?

WPM means words per minute. In a standard typing calculation, one “word” equals five characters, including spaces and punctuation. It is a measurement unit, not a count of complete dictionary words.

The basic formula is:

Gross WPM = characters typed ÷ 5 ÷ minutes

Gross WPM, Net WPM, and Accuracy
